On the evening of Thursday, May 3, we lost Jim (James) Milloy—an AMAPCEO member and fellow union activist—after a progressive battle with diabetes. He spent the last three years away from the work environment as a result of his condition. He was 61.
Jim started his public service with the federal government and later came to the OPS by way of labour market transfer in 2007. Since that time, Jim worked in the Employment Ontario Contact Centre as a Team Leader, where he was known for his proficiency with technology. Through his time with the contact centre, Jim coached, hired, mentored, and trained many staff who have kept in touch with him over the years.
Jim will be remembered for his brilliant mind and his ability to regale audiences with descriptive stories to illustrate his point. Jim possessed extensive knowledge on many topics and created his own language along with its own lexicon. He was fluent in French and took up Japanese, as well as American Sign Language.
Jim loved to debate, and enjoyed the chance to advocate for the rights of others. He was an AMAPCEO activist and Workplace Representative for a number of years. I have to thank Jim for getting me involved with AMAPCEO. Jimmy you will be missed... rest in peace, my friend.
