Update

Wednesday, September 20, 2023

An unofficial movement of far-right groups opposing the teaching of LGBTQ+ content in schools announced their intention to stage a protest early this morning, September 20, against queer-inclusive education.

In response, the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) made efforts to mobilize “No Space for Hate!” counter-protests across Ontario to show support for and stand in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The OFL is one of many groups that organized events throughout the country, some of which are still ongoing.

AMAPCEO stands in solidarity with all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We condemn discrimination and oppression in all its forms. Ontarians deserve access to public services safely, equitably, and without discrimination based on sexuality or gender expression or identity.

Additional counter protests may occur over the next five days. AMAPCEO encourages all members who want to attend, and feel safe doing so, to find further information here »

The OFL also has a list of resources, including on how to safely protest, available on their website.
